You want a good set for sound, tone and warmth without blowing budget. If you want a custom set like this, check out the Gretsch Catalina Maple in this awesome red to black fade for only $750, at: http://www.siglermusiconline.com/store/pc/Gretsch-Catalina-Maple-Euro-Drum-Set-with-Custom-Classic-Hardware-Pack-28p2876.htm.
This is one of the best kits on the market, and it is one to really consider.

You want to start drumming, but you don't know which price or set you want. If you are around the five year old mark, go with something like this Ludwig set: http://www.vintagedrum.com/item/Ludwig-5-Piece-Junior-Childrens-Kids-Starter-Drum-Set-Black. It's usually around $280, which isn't bad considering it last you quite a few more years. A bonus is it already comes with cymbals. If you are about ten years old and more advanced, I wound go with a Sound Percussion set, shown here: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Sound-Percussion-Pro-5-Piece-Drum-Set-with-Chrome-Hardware-866990-i1455915.gc?source=4WFRWXX&CAWELAID=354681466. It's $300, and doesn't come with cymbals. If you are more professional (fifteen and up), and are willing to blow lots of money, go with any of your better sets, like Pearl, Mapex, Gretsch, Gig Pig, Tama, Ludwig, Yamaha, and DW Drum. These are made of finer woods, like birch, maple, oak, and mahogany. Some shells are even made of steel. Over all the reviews (wanting a professional set without blowing budget), I wound go with HB Drums: http://www.hbdrums.com/. They are quality birch shells, beautiful colour finish, and without blowing budget. You can easily get a professional set for three hundred dollars! The only down is you probably want to upgrade to some cheap Sabian Cymbals. Something like Solar or B8 in this name brand are fairly good. In my opinion, just go with HB.

I was surfing the web today and found this funny drum set, called a Gig Pig. As in the photos, it's square, making it very different. If you want to check out the website, go to: http://gigpig.org/.
I hope you like it.
